Valves check price?
I just called my local Kawasaki dealership to see how much they charge for the valve check and they said $150 and that includes any adjustment if necessary, my bike has 8k miles on it, I only asked for the valve check an adjustment if necessary and that what they told me. Is that a fair price?
JFYI I'm a very handy person and do basically all my stuff including cars and boats and have a lot of tools. Do you guys think I should do it myself or take it to de service department? I was reading somewhere that the shim kit cost about $75 so for an additional $75 I have everything done by the dealership. My bike has extended warranty until February next year, if I do this myself, could I void the warranty? I also bought about 6 month ago a full CF yoshi exhaust and haven't install it yet because I know I need to rejet the bike and I don't know if this also could void the extended warranty. What do you guys think? |

If you read the threads on valve adjustment I would think $150 is not bad.

$150 seems like a good deal to me as well. Labor rate locally is $90 - $100/hr, and I think this would be more than a 1.5 hr job in total for most folks.

Good price. Interesting that its the same price whether checking or adjusting as in adjusting the cams must be removed.

You might want to double check that....because they might be thinking its an older generation 250R....which was much easier to adjust.
The new one is a fair bit more difficult, and you also have to add in the cost of the shims. Let us know if they really will do it for $150....because thats a good deal. I wouldnt do it for $150. It might be worth a trip to Augusta, just so I dont have to deal with it. |
