Best 12000k Lights?

I have been taking a look at various companies that make 12000k ballasts for the 250 and mainly leaning towards this:

http://fatbikez.com/xetronic-digital...tml?cs_cookies[csid]=d29c34230fbf912916efce4d248ec0b3&cs_cookies[cart_languageC]=EN

Any other companies out there some think may be better? Looking for the best so I'd like to get what I pay for.

Purple Headlights aren't going to be very good for night. Not to mention they are illegal.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't do it. I can understand going to HIDs to get whiter and brighter, but purple is going darker and decreasing visibility.

FWIW, it's the bulbs that are 12000k, not the ballasts. You can mount just about any color bulb on a given ballast, so if you decide you don't like the color, ya just need new bulbs.

+1 to them not being super for real use as headlights @ night, but to each their own. Hope ya enjoy 'em and post up pics!

You can make them fog lights in addition to HID headlights that are whiter. That'd be rad!

As said, ballasts are just the inverters and determine the power output--the gas mixture inside the bulb determines the color temp.

I have been taking a look at the complete kits with projectors bulbs and all and would like to know which of them is suitable for the 250. Looking at getting the 6000k bulb.

12k looks bad ass. They will be my next color . As far as compared to 6-8k .. I've seen a set of 12k in person on a newer civic, they were extremely bright and lit the whole parking lot up so my opinion they do just as good a job as the 6k and I've owned quite a few 6&8 k sets in cars. Whatever you go with I wouldn't pay over $50 for a hid set. Just go on ebay , I've always had good luck with just the basic $40-50 eBay kits .

I would suggest going with this kit. That projector is stupid easy to install. I don't know if you were planning on using a projector or not but if hids are being used you really should, otherwise all oncoming traffic is going to be blinded.

FYI, I'm fairly sure that projector's too deep to install into the headlight without removing the reflector and using a custom mounting bracket.
TRS does have good bulb/ballast/projector hardware, though I'd also call and ask about their wiring lengths for the relay harness before ordering if you intend to. The H7 harness I got from them was woefully too short to use on the ninjette when I was doing my retrofit. Wound up building my own, for less than they were asking and with all the wires properly crimped, which is more than I can say for theirs.

FWIW, the kit nick linked has a bi-xenon projector, so one bulb can do both high and low beam, with some wiring shenanigans. But it's only one bulb/ballast/projector.

Are you going for a complete retrofit? If so, take a look here. CThunder-Blue figured out how. It's not super hard, but it's a project.

If you just want HID lights in your reflector housing (less effective, but far cheaper) I'd take a look here for the DIY

Heh, probably money well spent. Just wanted to give ya both sides of the story if you're committed to doing HIDs.

The color will also depend on the wattage. Higher wattage bulbs (55W) tend to wash out color, while the lower wattage (35W) tend to be a bit richer. My rule of thumb is a 12000k 55W looks like a 35W 10000k bulb.

All that means is just take a look @ the dealer pics for the bulbs you're buying and expect a little variability in the color between your bulbs and the ones from the dealer. Usually, the exact color is NOT covered under warranty/customer satisfaction guarantee, so long as it's in the 'ballpark'.
