Your OTHER motorcycles....what ya got ?
Myself I have other motorcycles than just the 2012 Ninja 250R .
and a few of them raite higher on my list than the Ninja does. their just a better bike than the ninja for that days riding....as I am not always in the mood to go do the Twisties.... and that is mainly what I do with the Ninja and it is by far and away better at that than any other bike I have.... but what of the others ? Well the 1977 Triumph T120 750cc is OLD school all the way it's mainly for longer trips cruising down the freeway or just getting down the road it has a special place in my heart as I wanted one of those sense I was 12 years old and I finally got one.... but many other bikes are superior , that goes without saying.... it's old technology ! ... My newly acquired XR650L is a Duel Sport both on road and off road machine. and that is what kind of riding I plan to do with it.... exploring rual roads and logging trails in the mountains , not something the Triumph or Ninja is real good at... ... the TT250 Is mainly for the same thing but Mainly I got it for the Kid...not me but it is alot lighter and easier to maneuver on single track trails but I'm really not riding it because I don't want to hurt the Kids bike (even if she don't ride it) .... So My question is What bikes do you have ? and what do you use them for? What kind of Bikes do you have and what do you use them for and your plans for them... Many of you people out there are Track fiends and love going to the track as much as you can, others commute back and forth to work on them.... which I would think the Ninja 250 would be the ultimate bike for that....some only travel on bikes... but some people have many bikes, bikes are like guns... you collect them and are hard pressed to sell one as you may need it some day. .... Please give us a run down of your bikes... bikes are like tractors or boats I just like hearing about them ! ... Bob.....

I've got 6 bikes ranging from 150hp to 2hp.
2001Yamaha 5jj R1. Owned it since 2016, used to commute on it but find it a bit too uncomfortable these days, I don't bend so easy. 1975 Suzuki GT380, owned this since 1996, its in very original condition, patina they like to call it. Rebuilt the crank 20 odd years ago and rebored it. Had one when i was 17 so very attached to it. Got a 3-1 exhaust which is noisy as hell but completely nails any power. 1993 Suzuki RGV250N. Bought this in 2013 as a basket case, spent a fair bit rebuilding the engine, brand new crank, replated barrels, new pistons. Havent riden it since 2019 but decided to get it on the road this year, wheels are out of it being powdercoated. Beautiful thing to ride, only weighs 150kgs with 60hp, but boy is it a squeeze getting on it. 1970 Honda SS125. Bought this in 1998 for £35, I'm the second owner. Fully restored it 4 years ago, shot blasted and painted all the frame,swing arm etc. Exhausts are impossible to get so made my own. Rebuilt the wheels, New rims and spokes. Only done 8800 miles from new and even though 53 years old still sounds like a sewing machine. 2014 Kawasaki 250R, which you know about. 1959 Velosolex, bought on a whim, never done anything with it. If you want to include 4 wheels, I also have a 1991 Mini Cooper, slowly being restored and my road car is a 2003 BMW E46 M3 |

I'll see if I can post a pic of the 3 Bikes I have, I don't count the TT250 as it's the Kids !
.... lets see first would be the 1977 Triumph Bonneville 750cc Next would be the 2012 Kawasaki 250R that I have lowered ALOT. and third but not least the 2001 Honda XR650L as my latest acquirement. the ninja's picture was Upside down so I had to edit it... and it wound up being the 3rd picture instead of the 2nd... the XR650L is my GO TO bike, the Ninja is always being worked on.... and sense the Triumph only has a Kick starter on it it hasn't ran all year ! although it usually starts easy 2nd or 3rd kick and runs perfect I just don't ride it much as it is my pride and joy and I don't want to hurt it ...so it sets mostly.... I fire it up periodically but that is about all....it's a beast ! ....I have lowered the XR650L a bit more sense that photo the only change that you can see however is the swing arm sits horozontal now instead of pointing slightly down.... on a stock XR650L the swing arm angles downward at almost a 45 degree ! that is how much this bike has been lowered for my short stature... ground clearance is probably only 6" now LOL. Bob.....

I have a 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet. Modified head, HD muffler drilled out, ACE Motors - Ignition Kit, Clubman Kit 2 head, PCV breather, Performance Cams. Power Commander V /w AutoTune.
Also, a 2014 Continental GT 535. Very modded. Working on it. 2016 XG750 Street 750. Two Bros muffler, K&N air filter kit, Dobeck EJK fuel controller. Wired for Gerbings, 2 channel controllers and USB port. Slipstreamer windscreen. Dyno tuned at District HD in Gaithersburg, MD. |

Oh ... where to start... oldest 1st!!
My 1st bike, bought in 1986! Wanted VFR750F, but couldn't afford it at time, so got baby brother VF500F Interceptor! Being 1st street bike, it was learning experience for everything! Riding & crashing, maintenance, repairs & upgrades. It was pristine for all of 5-minutes, then I stalled and dumped it trying to get out of uphill driveway out of seller's house. It was really steep driveway, I swear!!! Having ridden dirt-bikes for years before I was old enough to get driver's licence, I wasn't used to so much weight! So I just went back to riding dirt, gave it tonne of throttle and wheelied outta there! That's more like it!!! Then punk teenager that I was, never realised it needed maintenance! Let it sit too long over winter-break next to ocean and it rusted up solid and carbs clogged. Ended up running lean on one cylinder, melted and seized piston and tossed rod out side of block! ] Got spare older-gen engine from breakers with damaged head/chocolate cams and mixed & matched parts to build one good engine! Took opportunity to completely strip down to bare frame and paint it black. Along with recovering ripped seat in crash couple years later, it looks much more coordinated. Less Fisher-Price or Tonka-toy and more like serious bike. For reference, here's original colour scheme. I think my next step with it is upgrading wheels to wider CBR600F2 wheels in order use modern 17" tyres. Then take it out and wring its neck on track! |

First bike I bought new off the show room floor was a Honda intaceptor 500
hated the low handle bars rode it back and forth to work for a good 6 months and nearly froze in the -17 degrees one winter morning so I gave that up and sold it for the monthly payments ...just for someone to take the bill ! Bought a Ford Ranger pickup truck man that was alot warmer ! had it for 3 months and I discovered that the thieves at the ford dealier put it on a lease and not buying it.... I was so mad I could have went postal on the whole dealier ship.... but I didn't ...I took the truck back walked up to the sails dpt and asked to see the manager, he came out and I said because your salesman lied to me your getting the truck back and I will never buy another ford ! ...he said we are terribly sorry the salesman was fired he did that to several customers.... so I was out a good $500 bucks ! he never offered to reimburse me for my troubles or anything ..... and to this day I have not bought a ford again ...nor will I ! ..... I hard ONE Ford experience and it was my mum's compact. Don't even remember what model it was. Anyway, one day she drove up driveway on way to work and stopped by front-door to get something she forgot. Came back out and realized she had locked door with engine running! Couldn't get in!!! By time my Dad came home with his key, car had overheated and blown engine!!! Couldn't believe Ford would design engine with such poor cooling system, it can't even keep itself cool at idle!
Then I found out that Crown Vics cops used had to have cooling system upgraded before they could be put into service, WTF?$@!#%!!! Final straw that soured me on Ford permanently was Explorer fiasco. To make up for poor suspension design causing harsh ride, Ford had 26-psi recommended pressure ... for a 4000-lb car!! Then they tried to blame it on Firestone tyres!!! Horrible engineering and lack of corporate accountability made it "never Ford" for me! Won't mention anything about my friends who tried to do trackdays with their Mustangs... |

LOL that was probably a Ford Pinto had a few of them ran them till they were junk in less than 100k miles, Mother in law and father in law bought us a brand new toyota tercel and we never looked back, we got over 400,000 miles on the Tercel . that was when I bought the ford ranger pickup as we needed a pickup
...later we got a toyota and loved it ! ..... I didn't mean to distract you ! continue with your bikes ! .... Bob.....

Danno, that Interceptor was a gorgeous bike. My husband had that same bike for a while, 1986 500. I was supposed to learn to ride on it, but we never managed to teach me and he sold the bike so it wouldn't be idle any more.

I'm firmly sold on Toyotas. My 1st car was Supra that I thoroughly abused as teenager. Just changed oil and it went forever! My wife had '94 Corolla and had 280K-miles when we sold it. Still going on strong with new owner, up to 350K-miles now!
I went from one of these tow-vehicles: To Corolla Wagon!!! Holds so much more stuff for track and I can sleep in back at track too! |

My wife and I ( both driving at the time) had a Toyota tercel brand new off the show-room floor ...I changed the oil every 2500 miles and stepped up the oil viscosity at 100k miles to 20w40 and again at 300k to 20W60 in the end it reached 410K miles before the Rods started knocking slightly.... so I parked it and planned to rebuild it...but the parts cost more than the car was worth !
so it set.... also had a Toyota pickup over 400K miles on it and sold it.... something I wish I had never done that was a great little truck ! .... Bob.......

Saw good deal on bike that had been sitting at dealers for years and never sold. Eventually mechanic that worked there bought it and used it for commuting. I picked it up couple weekends ago and have been riding almost daily! 2006 ST1300PA !!!
Unlike my previous one that was worn-out and beat up, this one was never deployed as cop bike and is pristine with only 18K-miles! Last weekend, I changed out 2-Bros mufflers and put factory ones back on. Aahhh... so much better! No more headaches after 30-minute ride. I must be getting OLD! Preferring civilised exhausts over loud pipes!!! It came with all sorts of factory extras that was never put on: - rear sub-frame for moto-cop version, has additional mounts for... - radio platform - rear seat cowl - shotgun holster - extra bodywork - factory mufflers (any one want 2-Bros mufflers?) - rear crash-bar cage, which I'll leave off, looks too ungainly and added-on. I'm not worried about getting rear-ended anyway. Went for ride at crack of dawn to beat the heat! Only 88F at top of hill!! My ice-cubes didn't last long... need to get insulated ice-chest... Stopped off for breakfast on way back. It was 117F at bottom!!!! |

Wow 117 F is too hot to ride in.... I shrivel up like a Raisin in that kind'a heat !
I've ridden in 120 F one time and forgot my sunglasses (no face shield back then) and got sun blinded.... it dried my eyes so bad that everything turned grey ...lasted about 2 days ! not to mention the sunburn ! and I was only on the road about 1hr ! I did have my jean jacket on at the time and almost took it off and I am real glad I didn't ! I would have had 3rd degree sunburn..... Again ! no fun! ..... Bob.......

At the dealership, I also saw a 4-cyl 400 that had been sold but not yet picked up. I'm very glad to see them existing in the real world! They've been "coming" for so long it's nice to see one.

This is my do-it-all DRZ400SM, for which I have a set of 18-21 wheels with knobby tires too.
I wish it were fuel injected |

..that is a good looking machine....and it actually has HANDLE BARS !!!! the funky things that are on my 2012 250R are hard to deal with ! can you touch the ground on that Kerry ???? looks like some lowering is in order ! (would be for me !) .... and Not to over look TOPAZ the 400 is indeed a do it all machine my XR650L is the preferred ride for me now. Bob.....

Yeah, I've had the yellow Ninjette since Jan 2016, so 7 years? 7 1/2?
Got the green one from a local dealer. The ZX4RR had sold, so even if I had decided I wanted it I would have had to wait. I'm sure its buyer will be delighted with it. Bob, I can almost flatfoot the bike. My heels are maybe an inch off the ground. It's fine. I just have to pay attention at stops. Rode husband's Victory Empulse a couple weeks ago, can only get a foot down on one side, but it was ok. |
