The worst part of that video is unseen! You think he is in pain now (while they were filming him) wait till he gets to the hospital and they have to scrub all that rash clean! I think it takes a lot less time to shop, purchase and use gear than to recover from similar injuries to what the guy in the video has. Spend the money and buy quality gear that fits properly and you will not want to ride without wearing it every time. Untill i bought a full leather suit i assumed they were restrictive and uncomfortable. Nothing could be further from the truth! While riding at the track this year in 80 degree weather, I was super comfortable (once moving) due to the great ventilation in the suit. I guess some people need crash before they see gear is the most important thing next to good tires! |

I don't think there are any federal laws stating adults have to wear a bicycle helmet, may be some provincially for minors. That said, it is not enforced. I see more kids and adults not wearing helmets than I see do in and around Toronto.

I'll admit I squid sometimes and wear just jeans with all the other gear. Nobody likes wearing pants, but wearing two pairs? That gets tiresome. I gotta get some knee armor that straps on instead of slip on. I'll also admit if I go to the gym (<5 minute ride)...I've definitely worn just a t-shirt before. Squidlife
I'll also add now that after riding around the San Fernando Valley for a decent amount of time, assuming your bike doesn't fail mechanically it's very easy to ride safely (grid-like roads, no blind corners, wide roads with lane options, slowing down at intersections, oncoming traffic visibility, etc) I can see why so many riders around here wear little gear. Just gets dicey when traffic builds up and motorcycles become harder to see.

You posted your video publicly on youtube and then linked to it on a public forum. You couldn't of made your -- apparently-private -- business any more public if you tried.
Wear your gear or don't. Your skin and bones; it's your choice. I'm still going to call you out on your foolishness. |

Go to the beach. Not like you'll get a good tan on a bike.
