2008 ninja 250 float valve needle plunger
Hello,
I'm cleaning the carbs on my 2008 250 project bike. Noticed both floats were pretty off, at around 22 mm. Manual says 17 mm. When I adjusted the tangs I realized I had to bend them pretty far down to get close to 17, and that resulted in the floats barely being able to move up and down. I don't think it's correct. Noticed that, in contrast to my TW-200 carb I'd worked on, the little plungers on both fuel needles that the floats sit on were fixed in place. On my TW the plunger would go in and out as the float moves up and down on it. Are those plungers supposed to move? If so I can't get them unstuck. Thanks. |

frankly, I'd replace them....notice the discoloration/differences which have affected the actual viton sealing surface in your pic?

be aware of inconsistencies of brass tuning components within kits
within my service, i choose to clean/reuse all (correct) brass where possible .....consistently replacing all "consumables" (orings, float valves) Fully your choice though.

Gordon put it politely. All rebuild kits I've ever gotten or heard about have non OEM jets that will keep you working on the carbs forever. The float needles and gaskets in the kits are usually OK.
